Beyond Lavender Sleep Solutions
Did you know that experts recommend that adults get at least 7–8 hours of sleep every night? Unfortunately, about 33 percent of Americans are not getting the recommended amount of sleep per night, and approximately 1 in every 5 adults in the US experiences occasional sleeplessness or difficulty sleeping.
Depriving your body of sleep has been linked to many health risks and places a tremendous burden on virtually every organ system in your body. Lack of adequate sleep affects our ability to lose weight or to maintain a healthy weight; influences how we feel, learn, and behave; negatively impacts our cardiovascular health and overall wellbeing, and can reduce reaction time and interfere with our ability to drive. Getting adequate sleep is essential to recover physically and mentally from the demands of daily life. 𝘘𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘴𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘪𝘴 𝘷𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 to how you feel each and every day because it is essential to support your body’s natural recuperative and restorative processes.
Usually, when people come to me asking for an essential oil to help them with sleep, I recommend Lavender. But because everyone’s body chemistry is different, sometimes lavender may not be the best oil. So, I wanted to share some other options for sleep support. 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 - this restful blend has different calming oils in it to calm the mind and emotions. It’s great in a diffuser next to the bed.
𝐕𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 - this oil is both calming and grounding. Rub on the big toe before bed for a restful night’s sleep.
𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 - often referred to as the “manly lavender”, this calming oil helps with feelings of fear and anxious feelings. Diffuse for a relaxing aroma.
𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝 - this oil is so good for restlessness and smells amazing. Apply topically or diffuse for relaxation.
𝐑𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞 - if you are feeling irritable and tense, this is a great oil to try. Diffuse for a calming effect on the mind and body.
𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐝 - this oils had a very grounding aroma making it a great option to diffuse to promote relaxation.
And if you are looking for more support, I personally love to take two 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐬 before bed each night to calm my mind and emotions.
And for my kids, I love to roll the 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐫 roller along their spines before bed to help them relax and unwind.
