dōTERRA’s new Neroli essential oil, also known as Citrus x aurantium, has a sweet, floral, citrusy, and fresh aroma. It reminds me a of Petitgrain, but smells better. Much research has been conducted regarding the aroma of Neroli. According to research, it instills relaxation, uplifts mood, reduces feelings of anxiousness, and promotes overall well-being. I find that I enjoy using it to provide a positive, calming experience.

Neroli is typically a more expensive essential oil, so I was happy to see that doTERRA choose to package it as part of their Touch® line. It comes as a 10 mL roller bottle diluted with Fractionated Coconut Oil making it super convenient to apply. And it's safe for sensitive or young skin. Plus having it as a Touch® roller makes it very affordable. Neroli is primarily meant to be used topically or aromatically and not internally.

Here are some ways to incorporate it into your daily life:

  • Apply topically to help soothe the skin

  • Use to encourage feelings of intimacy

  • Combine with Lavender, Ylang Ylang, and Marjoram essential oils for a relaxing and aromatic massage experience

  • Apply to pulse points (wrists, neck, or the side of your forehead) throughout the day to uplift mood and promote positivity

  • Use when experiencing stress or anxious feelings

  • Use before bed to encourage relaxation

  • Apply directly to skin before using moisturizer to reduce the appearance of blemishes

  • Supports a healthy intestinal inflammatory response

  • Promotes a healthy inflammatory response during late stages of pregnancy

  • Improves hormone concentrations

  • When you’re feeling anxious or frazzled, apply Neroli to your palms and cup your hands around your nose. Breathe in the scent deeply a few times to feel more relaxed and at peace.

I also asked on my Oils With Jamie Facebook and Instagram pages how other people were using Neroli and had some great comments.

Popular uses of Neroli include libido, getting to a happy place, staying centered, as a perfume, focus, tissue support, sleep, for menstrual cycle issues, emotional support for postpartum, dry skin, overthinking, and as a deodorant.

There are so many fun uses for this oil!!

Fun facts about Neroli:

  • This name "Neroli" may sound odd, but it actually comes from a familiar source—the bitter orange tree. This tree is also the source of Petitgrain and Bitter Orange. Petitgrain oil comes from its leaves and twigs, and bitter orange oil comes from the rind of its fruit (this is different from Wild Orange). Neroli comes from the flowers of the tree which are delicate but provide us with a powerful tool for our homes.

  • As with most floral oils, timing is important when working with the blossoms. Orange blossoms will quickly lose their oil after they’ve been picked, and need to be steam distilled as soon as possible to produce the highest quality and quantity of oil possible.

  • According to the Emotions and Essential Oils book, Neroli is the "Oil of Shared Purpose and Partnership" and is particularly helpful for calming troubled hearts in relationship conflict. It also promotes harmony in the changing dynamics of long-term relationships. It can be used to help with patience, empathy, and intimacy.

Neroli can be used aromatically or topically. Neroli is not a photosensitive oil, so it is fine to use topically on the skin when outdoors.

If you have used Neroli, I would love to hear how you use it. Comment below and share! If you have not tried it, I am confident that you will love it as much as I do and see why there is so much excitement about it.
