The Easiest Healthy Habit You’ll Love To Create!
I recently changed up my daily routine and am obsessed! Being healthy is very important to me, so I am constantly learning about new wellness habits to adopt. Some of the new habits stick, but many only last for a few days. However, when I take the time to research a new activity and understand all the health benefits that it can provide, I go all in. I have also found that if it is something that can benefit my entire family then I am more likely to commit to the new habit. About 8 months ago, I added a new wellness tool to my home that my entire family can enjoy and benefit from on a daily basis. All six of us fell in love with it right away and foundit very easy to make it a new habit! So, I am excited to let you in on this secret that I don’t want to keep to myself…saunaing is a wonderfully enjoyable habit that has a multitude of health benefits!
I have many friends who have infrared saunas in their homes and one thing I notice is that they all have amazing skin. Like the glowing and youthful skin that we all want! That was pretty much enough to make me interested in getting an infrared sauna for our home, but as I did my research I was blown away by how many additional health benefits there are. Infrared saunaing goes beyond soaking up some heat and sweating. This therapy helps the body detoxify and increases circulation with such a powerful positive effect that cardiologist Dr. Joel Kahn says it would be a multibillion-dollar drug if it were a pill. Other health benefits of infrared saunas include increased immunity and general wellness, relaxation and mental health, anti-aging, skin rejuvenation, muscle recovery, and temporary pain relief. Plus, they can also support a healthy weight management program! As you sit in an infrared sauna, there is an enjoyable warmth that creates a pleasant experience while infrared waves gently warm your body from inside so that you sweat deep and productively from within, without discomfort. Infrared Saunas are different from traditional saunas which are more like sweat boxes and often leave you feeling drained and exhausted. All my research helped to confirm that an infrared sauna is truly a foundational part of a wellness lifestyle.
As I continued to research all that I could about infrared saunas, I quickly learned that Sunlighten had perfected its technology to bring the safest, most efficient, and most effective infrared available. Sunlighten infrared saunas are manufactured to the highest standard of safety in the industry plus they have ultra-low EMF. And did I mention their saunas are gorgeous?! Sunlighten is the only brand I would trust to use for my family.
I still remember counting down the days for our Sunlighten infrared sauna to arrive. Even my husband and four kiddos were excited! My goal was to use it three times a week for thirty minutes, but I quickly found that I was using it every single day for up to forty-five minutes! I was always looking forward to my next session. The infrared sauna allowed me to have some extra “me-time” which was great, but I also saw it as an important wellness tool that I wanted to make part of my way of life; just like eating healthy and exercising. Adding the infrared sauna to my daily routine has allowed me to put feeling good and being healthy as a top priority. And I will continue to use it regularly so that I can continue to feel good and live my best life.
Infrared Sauna and Essential Oils
I am a huge fan of essential oils and having fun incorporating them into my sauna routine.
I keep a passive diffuser in my infrared sauna and add oiks before each session. Some of my favorites are Serenity (restful blend), Breathe (respiratory blend), or Peppermint which is invigorating and uplifting. You could also bring a cordless diffuser into the sauna with you, but I recommend checking the user guide for the maximum temperature allowed. Some sauna sessions can get up to temperatures around 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
Another way that I use essential oils is by adding them to a dry brush and using it before I get into the infrared sauna. Dry brushing is the practice of exfoliating the skin with a brush consisting of coarse, natural-fiber bristles over the body in a particular pattern and it is believed to have many health benefits, including: stimulating the lymphatic system, exfoliating the skin, helping the body rid of toxins, increasing circulation and energy, and helping to break down cellulite. Yes, please! My favorite oils to add are Slim and Sassy (metabolic blend), Zendocrine (detoxification blend), or Cypress which is amazing for circulation.
And finally, the simplest way to use essential oils with an infrared sauna is to apply them before the sweat session begins. My go-to oils are Deep Blue Rub for discomfort or Lavender for extra relaxation.
I couldn’t be happier with the purchase of a Sunlighten Infrared Sauna. Together, my husband and I choose the mPulse 3 in 1 full spectrum Believe model in Basswood. We love that there is room for two, and it has a tablet so I can catch up on all my Netflix shows! If you’d like to learn more, please let me know.
