Cedarwood Essential Oil
Cedarwood is one of my favorite essential oils! Why?? Because it is THE reason I am able to fall asleep every night AND stay asleep. I literally use it every single night in my diffuser.
Cedarwood has a warm, woody aroma that I find very grounding which helps my mind relax. Before I started using Cedarwood, my mind would literally race for an hour before I would finally fall asleep. Also, I would often find myself waking up all throughout the night and struggling to fall back asleep. My hubby jokes that now that I can sleep through anything, including the kids waking up.
Cedarwood works so well for me at night that I am afraid to not use it. However, I do like to mix things up and will often combine it with another oil like Arborvitae, Bergamot, Juniper Berry, Patchouli, or Ylang Ylang. Furthermore, I always use the AromaLite Diffuser because it runs for 8 hours straight!! I keep it right next to my side of the bed. Cedarwood also evokes feelings of wellness and vitality which helps me to wake up refreshed and ready to start the day.
I also use Cedarwood on my kiddos to help with focus. It's a great one to use before school or during homework time. For an added punch, blend it with Rosemary, another good focus oil! Cedarwood is also a great oil to use on kiddos if they wake up scared. Just dilute it with some coconut oil and apply it to the bottoms of their feet.
Cedarwood also supports hair growth and is found in many DIY hair care products, including my DIY Dry Shampoo Recipe. You will also find it in doTERRA's Outdoor Blend TerraShield because it is great at naturally repelling insects!
